Hello to all of the wonderful women in the WSF community,

As we approach the autumn equinox, we are reflecting back on a remarkably generative year. Following the launch of Women, Spirituality and Transformative Leadership on November 1, 2011, we have connected with women at more than 40 book events across the U.S. and in Canada. WSF hosted and co-hosted several events at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York in February. We are still vibrating with the energy of our Young Leaders Retreat in Atlanta which brought together 28 women in April. Alison Fast was hired with a member grant from Odyssey Networks to create a series of short inspirational videos for their Call on Faith app; these films will soon be featured on our new website and are linked from the sidebar of this newsletter.

And there is more on the horizon including that new website, plans for another Alchemy conference and the first stirrings of a new book featuring the voices of young leaders!

Here are some ways to engage now:

Share your story on our blog: Stepping Stones on your Spiritual Journey

Spiritual breakthroughs can happen at the most unexpected times, while doing the most unexpected things and in the most unexpected places.  Many look to carve out time to travel somewhere new and look for new insights.  Or find groups of like minded people on a similar journey to share an experience.  Others search alone for the quiet and the inspiring in nature and the world.  Many are blessed with a guide along the way who knows how to help us find our way. All of us have stories of the important moment in time that shaped our beliefs.

This month, contributors from around the diverse  Patheos  community will share their stories of these special moments in their spiritual journeys.  We at the Divine Feminine Blog have been inspired, and have decided to dedicate this month's postings to the same topic.

If you would like to contribute your own stepping-stone story, please send your submissions of any length to

divine.feminine.wsf@gmail.com

Launch of Women's Task Force at the Parliament of the World's Religions

The Women's Task Force has been launched at The Council for the Parliament of the World's Religions with the mission of assuring women's voices are heard at the vital nexus of women's issues, religion and spiritual leadership.

You are invited to celebrate its inaugural event:

HONORING OUR FORE-MOTHERS

Saturday~ November 3

7:30 pm

Rockefeller Memorial Chapel

University of Chicago

Please join us in celebrating the inauguration of the Women's Task Force with many of Chicago's most esteemed women religious and spiritual leaders.  In joyful remembrance and appreciation of the spiritual legacy of our foremothers, we will honor women with prayers, readings and music from diverse traditions. Followed by coffee, tea, delicious desserts and spirited conversations. Featuring the West African rhythms of Diamana Diya and the ethereal chant of Hildegard of Bingen sung by sopranos Laura Lynch, Jillian Krickl, and Alessandra Visconti.

We welcome you to be present and part of this historic interfaith event. Free and open to the public.  Share the news with your spirited friends in the Chicago area.

CPWR Listening Campaign: Help Wanted

You can assist the Council for the Parliament of the World's Religions in their global Listening Campaign by organizing a Focus Group. The Campaign will seek to discover the significant needs, challenges, concerns, and aspirations that will shape the overall theme and significant topics to be addressed at the upcoming Parliament, as well as to lay the groundwork for ongoing initiatives emerging from the gathering. The Campaign is also an important project unto itself and will provide a "snapshot" of the current state and role of religion, spirituality, and the interreligious movement in the world. We will be organizing focus groups on every continent.

If you are interested in hosting a Focus Group by the end of the year with your own community or a community in which you have connections, a "Kit" can be sent to you which will have all the information and documents you need (invitation to participants, questions, guidelines, technology info, ect.) Focus Groups are designed to engage 10-12 people for a 2 hour session.

There are four basic requirements for each focus group leader: first, willingness to facilitate the focus group session by contacting and meeting with participants in person or by phone or web conferencing; second, willingness to take notes and gather participant information during the session and then input the material into a document provided;  third, ability to record the audio of the focus group session; and finally, access to the internet in order to return the documents and audio file to the Council via email. All of this information will be inputted into a database that CPWR and our Brussels partners share in order to create a final report.
