The Faces of Peace & New Website Coming Soon!

Ingrid, we are excited to announce the July launch of a revamped, cleaner, more user friendly and interactive website, and to give you a sneak peek at our brand new, participatory peace promotion initiative, The Faces of Peace. We hope The Faces of Peace will help to finally put inspiring peacebuilders in the national spotlight they deserve!

The Faces of Peace will highlight the inspiring stories of both highly trained peacebuilders as well as informal, often undeclared peacebuilders in our communities and around the world, who are leading the way by showing that peace is possible, practical and already present in all kinds of ways, including simple actions in our everyday lives.

As a supporter of The Peace Alliance, you have identified yourself as a part of this field. You too are one of the many faces of peace! You are probably also aware that a wide variety of effective peacebuilding practices have been used to prevent and resolve conflicts large and small. Since this work goes largely unrecognized and underfunded, even many practitioners in the field do not see or define their work as peacebuilding - nor do everyday individuals who engage in daily acts of peace.

We need your support to make a bold kick-off!

Help us launch a state-of-the-art website and spotlight these brave and inspiring Faces of Peace. We are in the final stretch.

Just $5 or $10 will make a difference!

Among the general public, few people have an understanding of what peacebuilding looks or feels like, and few are aware of the tools available to mitigate and address conflict without violence.

The Faces of Peace initiative will take this challenge head on - giving voice, texture, feeling and context to the heroic, vital work of peacebuilding. The new website will also provide you with an opportunity to share your own story as a “face of peace” and for the community who inspires you. We will promote and celebrate both the acknowledged work already being done and the role each of us can play as a face of peace in our own lives.

By spotlighting the many faces of peace, we hope to illuminate the vast depth and reach of this fast-growing field to strengthen and empower the movement to build and sustain a culture of peace for the 21st Century and beyond.

With your active participation and support, The Faces of Peace will serve as a social forum to generate connections, provoke discussion and spur momentum to invest in peace as a public and political priority. We will not achieve our ultimate political goals, which we have and will continue to work hard for, until we have created a much stronger web of common support and wide-spread public understanding of this remarkable field and what it offers.

Will you help us highlight these critical success stories and build the social and civic infrastructure for peace by donating $10 or $20 today?

The Faces of Peace will include:

Traditional “practitioners” in such fields as:

  • bullying
  • gang-violence,
  • reducing prison recidivism
  • genocide
  • international violence
  • eco-sustainability
  • domestic abuse, etc.

Everyday people who promote peace, such as:

  • a nurturing school teacher, teaching nonviolent communication
  • a teenager doing peer mediation
  • a yoga/meditation instructor
  • a caring companion, etc.
  •

Check out a preview of our new website and The Faces of Peace today! You’ll find samples of two inspiring, courageous stories of Juan Pacheco, a former gang member who now works in gang violence prevention, and Jamira Burley, a young woman who overcame homelessness and a life surrounded by violence to start a peace core program in her high school.  These are just two teasers, we will be featuring a wide variety of people from many backgrounds and ages as we launch in July.

We also plan to expand The Faces of Peace initiative by running advertisements across the web, creating PSAs, generating media and social media campaigns, all designed to take the movement to the next level by bringing this message and these incredible faces to the public-at-large.

We are in the final stretch before our initial launch and need your support to make the kick-off as bold as it can possibly be. Will you take a stand and join us now by donating any amount? Just $5 or $10 will make a difference!

You can read more about this initiative and its goals in a letter from our Board of Directors on The Peace Alliance website. You can also post comments to provide feedback and share ideas.

With deepest gratitude to you, one of the many faces of peace,

Heart Phoenix, and The Peace Alliance Board of Directors & Staff.
